InterInnov was one of the main contributors in the preparation of a joint booth between the FI-PPP XIFI and FI-WARE projects at the Smart City Expo World Congress event in Barcelona on 18-20 November. The XiPi portal developed
within the FI-PPP INFINITY Project was also demonstrated many times and the XiPi leaflets are now almost out of print! This and the success of the INFINITY/XIFI session in the ICT2013 Event in
Vilnius early November were instrumental in increasing the number of experimental infrastructures now available in XiPi to more than 220.
Videos from XIFI and FI-WARE have been made available.
The two networking booth sessions handled by AmpliFIRE and INFINITY-XIFI and
organised by InterInnov went very well and we were very pleased to see many people showing up and interested by FIRE
and by the XiPi portal and by the XIFI open
call. Thank you to all who were involved in the preparation and attended these sessions!
InterInnov was responsible for two networking booths:
Experimentation in 2020
InterInnov has been elected on 29 October in the new Net!Works-ISI European Technology Platform Steering Board. The Platform is
being formed out of the former Net!Works and ISI and has still to find a new name. The new Platform is
dedicated to telecommunications networks and services in all its forms and will be strongly related with the upcoming 5G PPP (Public-Private Partnership) which shall be part of the new European
Commission Horizon 2020 Programme.
The full composition of the new Steering Board can be found here. Information on the
5G PPP is available here.
A new report from OECD makes it clear that R&D
and innovation needs to be supported in order to boost innovation and help young firms. In particular, "OECD analysis also suggests that well-designed direct support, such as grants and
contracts, may be more effective in stimulating R&D than previously thought, especially for young firms."
InterInnov can help start-ups and SMEs find relevant R&D partners and get access to support and grants.
once we will make some advertisement for a book: The Entrepreneurial State: Debunking Public vs. Private Sector Myths by Mariana Mazzucato (easily found at any good (e-)library). It
explains how much the governments, including in the US, are helping entrepreneurs and companies develop innovative solutions by supporting them at the various stages of the innovation process.
You can find a review of this book in an article of The Economist.
This shows how much the "connecting" role of InterInnov is required to help private and public organisations work together!
